# Pricing — Guideling

Guideling is an audio travel guide for iPhone that narrates places as you pass
them. The first five stories are free and never expire. Once they are used it
goes quiet, mid-trip if need be, until there is a pass. A pass keeps it talking,
sold for a number of travelling days.

Last updated: 2026-10-03. Prices are US App Store prices; Apple sets the
equivalent in every other storefront and the app always displays the local one.

## Always free, with or without a pass

- The map, the destination field and route planning, including downloading a
  planned route for offline use
- Narration in every language the app has, and switching between them
- The written record of everything it has already told you

## Notes

- There is no subscription of any kind and nothing to cancel.
- A pass starts when it can be useful: on purchase if none is running, and
otherwise at the first new story after that one ends and the free stories
are used, even mid-trip. Nothing counts down while one sits unstarted.
- The trial is counted in stories rather than days for the same reason: a
seven-day clock would burn down through a week you spent at home.
- A daily ceiling on questions bounds abuse. It is far above ordinary use.
- A pass buys the app rather than one feature of it. Most of what Guideling
does costs us nothing to serve — a story is written once for a place and read
to everyone who passes afterwards — so charging only for the expensive part
would mean charging for the part nobody came for.
