Guideling
Terms

Terms of use, and who we credit.

The rules for using Guideling and this website, in plain words. The one that matters most is the first.

Written 11 October 2026.

1. The road comes first

Guideling talks while you travel. It never asks you a question and never needs an answer, and it's built so you never have to touch it on the move. Keep it that way: set it up before you leave, and if you want to change something, stop first.

You're responsible for driving, riding or walking safely and within the law where you are, including the rules on using a phone in a vehicle. If a story would distract you, press Silence or ignore it. Guideling is not a navigation app. Don't use what it says to decide where to turn, how fast to go or whether a road is safe.

2. What the stories are

Every story is written for a place, once, by an AI model working from facts gathered about that place from the sources listed under credits. Before anyone hears it, the story is checked against those facts, and one that fails the check isn't used.

That makes mistakes rare, not impossible. A source can be wrong, and a place can change after it was written about. Treat what you hear as a well-read companion, not an authority, and tell us at hello@guideling.app when something is wrong — it's fixed for everyone who passes afterwards.

The voice is synthetic. Each story is recorded once, by a speech model, and the same recording is played to everyone who passes.

3. The free stories, passes and refunds

The first five stories are free and don't expire. After that, a pass keeps it talking for 1, 3 or 7 days. A pass is a single in-app purchase through the App Store. It doesn't renew, and there's nothing to cancel.

Apple takes the payment and handles refunds, under its own policy: ask for one at reportaproblem.apple.com. Apple sets the price in each country. Your use of the iPhone app is covered by Apple's standard licence agreement for App Store apps, and by these terms.

A pass you haven't used up comes back on a new phone through Restore, from the Apple ID that bought it. A pass buys the whole app for its days, not a promise about any one road: on ground nobody has travelled with Guideling yet, the first trip can be quiet while the stories are written. Full details are on pricing.

4. Fair use

Use Guideling and this website for yourself. Don't try to break them, overload them, get round the free-story limit, or copy the stories or recordings in bulk. The service is rate-limited for that reason, and access can be withdrawn from anyone who abuses it.

The service is offered as it is. We do our best to keep it running and correct, but we can't promise it will always be available or free of errors. Nothing in these terms limits a right you have by law that can't be limited.

Sources and credits

Guideling is built on open data and open software, and it wouldn't exist without the people who write them. The stories, including the ones quoted on this website, are made from these sources.
